Registration steps
Search for your domain
Enter the name you want and check whether it is available under .np, .com.np, .org.np or another .np zone.
Create an account
Sign up with your email address and a strong password. You need to verify your email before continuing.
Verify your email
Open the verification email in your inbox and click the confirmation link to activate your account.
Submit your application with documents
Fill in the registration form and upload the required documents as JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF or SVG files of up to 800 KB each.
Wait for approval
Your application is reviewed and verified. This usually takes 3–4 working days, depending on the queue.
Your domain is live
Once approved, the domain is activated. You can then manage DNS records, enable DNSSEC and more.
Documents for organisations
- Company, firm or partnership registration certificate
- PAN registration certificate (for non-incorporated entities)
- Request letter on official letterhead with stamp and authorised signature
- Branch or liaison office registration certificate (foreign entities)
- Social Welfare Council affiliation certificate (international NGOs)
- Trademark registration certificate (if applicable)
Documents for individuals
Provide any one of the following:
- Nepali citizenship certificate
- Passport (Nepali, or foreign with a resident visa)
- Driving licence
- Voter ID card
- Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) ID card
- Nepali resident visa (foreign nationals)
Domain name rules
At least 3 characters
Domain names must be at least 3 characters long
Letters, numbers and hyphens only
Letters (a–z), numbers (0–9) and hyphens (-) are allowed
No leading or trailing hyphen
The first and last characters cannot be a hyphen
Must match the registrant
The name must correspond to your company, brand, product or personal name
No offensive words
Names containing offensive or inflammatory words are rejected
No surname-only names
Personal domains cannot be based only on a surname or caste name
Common rejection reasons
Avoid these common mistakes to speed up approval:
- ×Missing or incomplete applicant details (name, email, phone)
- ×Uploaded documents are blurred, incomplete or unreadable
- ×The domain name does not match the company, brand or personal name
- ×Wrong zone for the type of entity (e.g. .edu.np for a business)
- ×Missing request letter or company registration certificate
- ×Invalid DNS settings — nameservers must be FQDNs, not IP addresses
- ×Name based only on a surname or caste name (personal domains)
- ×Request letter without letterhead, stamp or authorised signature
